Open positions

The Youth Activities Leader is a temporary position that will be part of a team providing a high-quality afterschool program focused on increasing students’ sense of belonging and engagement with their school—Myers-Wilkins Elementary.

This position will be approximately 8 hours/week from October - May  2022. Required hours for the position are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-6:00pm. The afterschool program will consist of up to 30 youth in grades K-5, participating in a rotation of activities that use basketball as a way to teach important skills such as teamwork and patience. 

 

This position will report to the Myers-Wilkins Youth Development Coordinator. The Youth Activities Leader will be responsible for the daily leadership of activities in the program, including direct supervision of groups of elementary students, leading reflection and evaluation dialogue, communicating appropriately with guardians, partners, and staff, as well as accountability & safety for youth at all times.

Compensation:  $17-$20/hour depending on qualifications.

Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA full-time, one-year AmeriCorps position

Complete a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA! As an AmeriCorps VISTA, you will earn a small bi-weekly living allowance ($675.08 every 14 days) and have the option to receive a $6,495 education award at the completion of your service term. The Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA will support Duluth Community School Collaborative in 3 major areas:

  • Events: Collaborate with our staff to plan and implement in-person family and community engagement events at our three school sites (Myers-Wilkins Elementary, Lincoln Park Middle School, and Denfeld High School) and at community sites.

  • Communication: Support communication efforts to reach families, students, community members, and community partners, including through an organizational newsletter, social media, website, blog posts, and individual outreach.

  • Volunteers: Assess volunteer needs and opportunities to expand and improve programming through volunteers at each school site. Recruit and retain volunteers through our communication channels and partner organizations.

As part of the Ecolibrium3 VISTA cohort, you will have additional support, professional development, training and connections with other VISTAs in the area.​
